Four people were arrested Tuesday morning after Owensboro Police Department detectives seized a large quantity of drugs, including crystal methamphetamine and synthetic cannabinoids, during the execution of a search warrant.

According to a release from the Owensboro Police Department, members of the Street Crimes Unit and patrol officers carried out a narcotics search warrant in the 1300 block of Holly Avenue. Officers located trafficking quantities of crystal meth, 16 pounds of synthetic cannabinoid (commonly referred to as “Spice”), suspected fentanyl, pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and other items that indicate an ongoing drug trafficking operation.

Synthetic cannabinoids are described by OPD as a leafy substance that resembles marijuana but is often laced with highly toxic chemicals. These substances are known to cause seizures, psychosis, and potentially fatal overdoses.

The following individuals were arrested:

  • Richard Barrett, 54, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in synthetic drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
  • Melissa Bolmer, 46, was charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs, possession of fentanyl, possession of hydrocodone, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Onri Ayres, 47, was charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Laura Harvey, 30, was charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
