Three-wheel vehicle enthusiasts from across the country will return to Owensboro later this month for the second annual Kentucky Bluegrass 3 Wheel Klassic, a two-day event featuring custom vehicles, competitions, vendors, food trucks, and entertainment.
The event is scheduled for June 19-20 and is planned and hosted by Armour Custom Works, a Jacksonville, Florida-based company that specializes in Polaris Slingshot customization. Organizers expect the event to draw owners of Polaris Slingshots, Can-Am Rykers, Can-Am Spyders, and other custom three-wheel vehicles.
Following what organizers described as a successful inaugural event, officials anticipate a larger turnout this year as Owensboro continues to attract specialty automotive and motorsports events.
“Bringing unique competition for the Slingshot enthusiast means people are coming across the states to come to Owensboro. And when they get here, they fall in love with our hidden gem of a community, and that brings economic impact,” said Teresa Jones, destination account executive for Visit Owensboro.
Activities begin Friday, June 19, at Moreland Park. From 6-10 p.m., attendees can watch an amateur sound-off competition, an LED competition, and enjoy food trucks. Admission for spectators on Friday is free.
The event moves to the Owensboro Sportscenter on Saturday, June 20. Gates open at 10 a.m., with one of the event’s featured attractions — an indoor sound competition — beginning at 1 p.m. Organizers said the competition is one of the few of its kind held inside a sports arena.
Saturday’s schedule also includes the Armour Custom Works Slingshot Olympics, a five-person team competition, as well as vendors selling automotive merchandise and other items. Food trucks will be available throughout the day.
Admission on Saturday is $10, while children younger than 12 will be admitted free.
According to organizers, the event is designed to bring together three-wheel vehicle enthusiasts while showcasing custom builds and creating opportunities for riders to connect with others who share their interest in the growing motorsports niche.
