Finding themselves in a two-run first-inning deficit, Colton Carver responded with a three-run homer to fuel the Owensboro Bombers to a 17-2. In the midst of a torrid stretch, Carver finished 3-5 with five RBIs, making this his third straight game in which he has driven in multiple runs.
A pair of bases-loaded walks handed Eugene Pate a 2-0 lead, but Carver responded in the bottom of the first with his three-run blast. An inning later, they were able to burst open the game, scoring eight runs, highlighted by RBI doubles by Markell Yates, Jagger Pate, and Carver.
The Bombers added two runs in the third and four in the fourth to enact the mercy rule. Eli Hampton finished 2-2 with a homer and three RBIs, Pate drove in three runs, and Eli Hatfield went 2-3 with an RBI.
Myles Grant started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over one inning, while Brodie Tucker, Gage Napier, and Gentry Atwell combined for six strikeouts and five shutout innings. The Bombers are off today, but return to action tomorrow for a doubleheader against Rock Island and Lafayette.
