A man was seriously injured Saturday evening after being ejected from his pickup truck during a rollover crash in eastern Daviess County, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 5:43 p.m. to the 9000 block of Kentucky 1389 near the Yelvington community after receiving reports of a single-vehicle injury crash.
Deputies, the Daviess County Fire Department, Yelvington Fire Department, AMR ambulance service, and Air Evac Lifeteam responded and found a heavily damaged 2001 Ford Ranger about 25 yards off the roadway in a field.
Investigators said the driver, who was the truck’s only occupant, was ejected during the crash and suffered serious injuries. Air Evac flew him to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
According to the sheriff’s office, the preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling west on Kentucky 1389 at an excessive speed when he lost control of the truck for unknown reasons. The vehicle left the roadway, rolled over multiple times, and came to rest in a field.
Investigators said they suspect driver impairment may have been a factor in the crash.
Kenergy also responded after the crash caused a power disruption in the area.
The crash remains under investigation.
