The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art is inviting families to celebrate the launch of a new program designed to encourage children to explore the museum through hands-on art experiences.
The museum will host a free community event from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, to introduce the new “Owensboro Museum of Fun Art” Passport for children ages 6-12. The program is sponsored by Ann Murphy Kincheloe.
The launch celebration will feature indoor and outdoor activities across the museum grounds, including food trucks, face painting, art projects, a photo booth, speed portrait painting, yard games, a bounce house, mini golf, and balloon twisting.
Children who attend will receive a free Museum of Fun Art Passport, which is designed to encourage young visitors to participate in creative activities, explore exhibitions, and return to the museum for future adventures.
“The passport is a fun way to inspire children to explore the museum while creating lasting memories through art,” said Rebecca Stoen, the museum’s director of education. “We hope it encourages families to visit often and helps foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts.”
Each child will also have the opportunity to take a personalized photo for their passport during the event.
Stoen said the museum is committed to making art accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages, and the new passport program is intended to provide another opportunity for children to connect with the arts in an interactive way.
Children who are unable to attend the launch event can still pick up a passport and have their photo taken from 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29.
The event is free and open to the public.
