Tied 1-1 entering the bottom of the second, the Owensboro Bombers exploded for seven runs en route to a 11-1 win over Elberfeld. Markell Yates was a major catalyst, finishing 3-4 with two RBIs, while also scoring twice.
Leading off the second, Jake Murphy came through with a single and eventually advanced all the way to third on a fielder’s choice and ensuing defensive error. Four consecutive RBI singles by Brett Poole, Ryleigh Logan, Yates, and Eli Hampton pushed the lead to 6-1. After two quick outs, an Eli Hatfield walk, Murphy single, and a wild pitch pushed two more runs across.
The Bombers would add one run in the third and two more in the fourth. Myles Grant, Jagger Pate, Gage Napier, Nolan Johnson, and Logan combined for four strikeouts and five shutout innings.
Hampton finished 2-2 with two RBIs, Murphy went 2-3 with an RBI, and Poole was 2-3 with an RBI.
Next up for the Bombers is a Friday home game against Pontotoc.
