Neal Scott, 51, of Lewisport, was born to eternal life Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Owensboro Heath Regional Hospital. He was born in Daviess County on December 28, 1966 to Robert J. Scott and the late Tyler Sue Russell. Neal was employed by Yager Materials where he was a truck driver and union steward for 21 years, and where he was formerly a scale man. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.
Neal was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He was an active Catholic and was all about giving to the poor and feeding the hungry. He was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman, and an excellent cook. Neal was always feeding people. He took fresh vegetables to the homeless shelters and anyone who wanted them. He had fish fry’s from his catch. He kept up with politics because he cared about what was going on in his country. He was a wonderful papa to Gracie. Neal will never be forgotten and will be forever missed.
Neal is survived by his wife of 29 years, Darlene Scott, his children, Crystal Scott of Hawesville, Tabatha (Lucas) Jones, Eric Brown, both of Owensboro, his granddaughter, Gracie Crowe, his siblings: Pamela S. Payne, Catherine A. Scott, both of Owensboro, Kimberly S. Bunch of Monroe, North Carolina, Bradford J. Scott also of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:30 am Friday, October 5, 2018, at St. William Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. William Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, and again 9:30 am to 10:30 am Friday at the church. Prayers will be said at 7:00 pm Thursday.
