Charles Ray Hayden

June 24, 1941 - October 4, 2018

Charles Ray Hayden, 77, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Owensboro Center. He was born on June 24, 1941, in Owensboro to the late Ruben and Fairie Hayden. Charles retired from General Electric Company, where he worked for over 30 years in the Special Testing Department.

Charles loved animals and was known to drive around town and make several stops to feed the strays. He was an avid firearm collector and he enjoyed camping. Charles was a dreamer who had big ideas and had no fear for trying new things. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his brother, he loved his wife, was a kind, gentle and generous man. He always had a project he was working on and could build anything. Charles was known to be incredibly creative.

Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Morton Hayden; and three sisters, Christina Kessler, Margie Wilkerson and Judy Ford.

Charles is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Hayner Hayden; his children, Corey Hayden of Bowling Green and Craig (Michelle Russell) Hayden of Owensboro; his grandchildren, Hunter, Nathan, and Jescey; five brothers, Marvin, Frank, Sammy, Carl and James Hayden; a sister Margaret Blinco; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 am Wednesday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. The family of Mr. Hayden will welcome family and friends on Tuesday from 2 to 6 pm at the Life Celebration Center, adjacent to the funeral home and after 9 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
