Mary Margaret Connelly Lanham

June 11, 1948 - May 21, 2022

Mary Margaret Connelly Lanham, 74, of Floyd Knobs, Indiana passed away peacefully in Louisville while under the care of Norton’s Hospital and Hosparus on May 21, 2022, with her family at her bedside. She was born on June 11, 1948, and was married 49 years to the late Joseph Robert Lanham until his death in 2014. She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Wilfred Hagan and Frank Russell of Owensboro; Diddle Lanham and Alvin Payne of Knottsville; sisters-in-law, Mary Lois Hagan of Owensboro and Helen Lanham of Knottsville.

Mary is survived by her son, Wayne Lanham (Melissa), granddaughter Kendall Lanham (Andrew), and step granddaughter Katherine Nye, all of Floyds Knobs; Stepson Ronnie (Holiday) Lanham and step grandchildren, Skylar, Chanse and Fallan Lanham, all of Crestwood; Mary’s close and dear friend for many years and Kendall’s mother, Amy Stiller of Floyd Knobs. Sisters-in-law, Wanda Lanham and Joan Payne of Knottsville, and Doreen Russell of Owensboro; Brothers-in-law, Doodlebug Lanham of Knottsville and Gene (Cynthia) Lanham of Thruston, and many nieces and nephews of the Louisville, Knottsville, and Owensboro areas.

Mary had a keen sense of humor and was a wonderful, kind and most unselfish lady, leaving anyone she knew and anything she touched better than she found them. Her life was the epitome of serving the needs of others, first of her husband and son, followed by many years faithfully serving the special needs of her granddaughter, Kendall, helping her accomplish the dream of her life, establishing Lanham’s Little Llama Farm in Floyd Knobs.

Mary loved the springtime, flowers and their bright colors, and the sense of renewal and warmth that came with this time of year. In light of that, we encourage anyone attending the services to dress for a joyous celebration of her life rather than for a formal mourning of her loss.

Cecil Funeral Home of Whitesville has been trusted with arrangements, where visitations will be Friday, May 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by graveside services at 2:30 p.m. at St. Williams Cemetery at Knottsville, with Rev. Shijo Vadadumkara officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to DEBRA of America Foundation, 75 Broad Street, Suite 300, New York, NY 10004, 4-H Club, or a charity of your choice.
