CENTRAL CITY – William “Bill” Russell Miller, 90, of Central City, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Born on February 13, 1932, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1971. He served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and 1 tour of duty in Korea.
Bill “Papaw” worked for 20 years and retired from Peabody Coal Company at Gibraltar Coal Mines. He loved his family and his friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. He was preceded in death by his mother Retha McPherson; his father Martin Miller; brothers James, Stanley, Charles, Frank, and Marvin Ray Miller; sisters Margaret Amos and Alene Walker; and granddaughter, Cynthia Atherton.
Survivors include his wife of 70 year, Barbara Miller; daughters Cathy (Jackie) Brewer and Deborah (Gary) Atherton; granddaughters Wendy (Brad) Keown and Leslie (Clay) Vincent; and great-grandsons Buzzy Ashley, Henry Ashley, and Lucas Keown.
Funeral Services will be Saturday June 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Kevin Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
