Benzell E. Bard, Sr., 83, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky went to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born March 10, 1939 in Greenville, Kentucky to the late James Alverna Bard and Sarah Martin Bard. Mr. Bard retired from Peabody Coal Company. He also worked for the City of Beaver Dam, served on Beaver Dam City Council, was a member of Barnes Chapel United Methodist Church, Morris #48 Masonic Lodge and Beaver Dam Jaycee’s.
Aside from his parents Mr. Bard was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Esther Finn Bard and 11 siblings.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, 4 children, Benzell E. Bard, Jr. of Owensboro, Elder James Andre (Sonja) Bard of Woodbury, Tennessee, Dana Bard (Danette Allen) of Glasgow and Donna (Steven) Stone of Henderson; 6 grandchildren, Marcus, Dante, Lathan and Desmond Bard and Eboni and Cierra Nash; 5 great-grandchildren, Zamya and Zayden Canter and Leo, Ezekiel and Issaiah Bard; one sister, Mary Harriford of Flint, Michigan; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Barnes Chapel United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Shateka Bard officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mr. Bard’s family from 9 AM until the time of the service Thursday at the church. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky has been entrusted with arrangements.
