Betty Jean (Allen) Gilstrap

January 31, 1938 - September 11, 2022

Betty Jean (Allen) Gilstrap passed away peacefully at Ohio County Hospital on September 11, 2022.

Betty was born on January 31, 1938 to Cecil & Edith (Craig) Allen.  Betty was a long time employee of the Ohio Co. Board of Ed.  Where she worked as a school bus driver for many years while simultaneously working in the cafeteria of the Ohio County High school between bus routes.  She was also known by many in her community as the Bookmobile lady for several years before retiring.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Ray Gilstrap, a son James Lowell Gilstrap, and a daughter Vicki Jean (Gilstrap) Osborne.
Survived by her sons, Barry Ray Gilstrap (Becky) and Roger Glen Gilstrap (Letha) and daughter, Cristi Rudge. She is also survived by her loving son in law of many years David Osborne (Delia) and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Betty was of the Baptist faith and loved going to church with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed  spending time with her family and loved playing bingo, bunco, and family gatherings.  Betty was a Mamaw to more than just her grandchildren and will be missed by many.  Please join us at William L.  Danks Funeral Home to celebrate Betty’s life.  Visitation will be from 10-11am for family and from 11am-1pm with service immediately following on Friday September 16, 2022.
