John V. Cassady, 71, of Hawesville, KY, passed away at his home Friday, September 9, 2022. He was born in Louisville, KY on August 19, 1951 to the late Dean E. and Freda Mathers Cassady. John retired from Raytheon Missile Systems in 2016 and he and his wife Carolyn moved to Hancock County to enjoy their retirement years in 2017.
He was a member of Mt. Eden Baptist Church, loved the Lord dearly and loved meeting and getting to know others. He served as Deacon and taught Sunday School at Mt. Eden Baptist Church. John had a passion for the outdoors, loved to hunt and fish and piddle in his vegetable garden. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death a sister, Ruth Ann Ballard and a brother-in-law, Tom Mason.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mason Cassady, son, John Benjamin and his wife Michelle; grandchildren, Owen and Kaden; brother, Dean (Janice) Cassady; nephews, Larry (Christina) Ballard, Jeff Cassady and Tim (Kate) Cassady; nieces, Peggy (August) Lawrence, Deanna Ballard and Christi (Chris) Pilkington; great nephew and great nieces; sister in laws, Martha Mason and Mary Jane (Johnny) Owens.
Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Mt. Eden Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 pm until 7 pm and on Friday from 9 am until service time at Mt. Eden Baptist Church.
