Larry K. Young

- November 7, 2018

Larry K. Young, celebrated his 71st birthday by returning into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on November 7, 2018 while surrounded by family. He was a tremendous fighter who fought the ultimate battle off and on for many years. Even through the years of sickness, he always maintained a positive outlook, smile and fighting spirit, which he passed along to his daughter and granddaughters.

Larry was born in Stanley, Kentucky to the late Roscoe and Mary Ruth Freels Young. He graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School and retired from W.R. Grace.
He is also preceded in death by his son, Eric Young, his sisters, Margaret Howard and Anna Lee Johnson, and his brother, Bobby Young.

Dad is survived by daughter, Beth Young Cecil, and granddaughters Monica Young, Morgan Cecil and Emilee Cecil; in addition to siblings, Frank Young, Joe Young, Hattie Potts (Bill) and Connie Gibson; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Dad spent many years living life to the fullest while playing golf at Windridge Country Club and traveling. He was most proud of his granddaughters. He had such a kind heart, never met a stranger and always made a point to remember and call everyone by their first name. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, barbecuing (because he loved to eat!) and working on family genealogy. Always dressed to impress, Dad had a knack for being a sharp dressed man all the way down to his blue suede shoes and cowboy boots. Devoted to his faith, he attended weekly mass at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Special thanks to Dr. Prajapati, Dr. Buchanan and staff, Dr. Mullins, Davita Dialysis and Hospice of Western Kentucky. Donations may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.

Mass will be held at noon on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes. Burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
