Nathaniel Kent “Nate” Benson, 30, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away November 19, 2022 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born April 25, 1992 in Owensboro to Kent Benson and Dorothy Bonner Benson.
Nate had the greatest personality and sense of humor. His smile would light up the darkest of rooms and he had a laugh as contagious as the flu. When he cared for someone he cared for them deeply. His passion was basketball. He loved the NBA and was an avid UK basketball fan.
Nate is preceded in death by his grandparents, James A. Bonner, Jr. and Margaret Cashon Bonner.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Bonner Benson of Owensboro; father, Kent (Barb) Benson of Philpot, Kentucky; grandparents, Bartley (Marlene) Benson of Maceo, Kentucky and Ella Mae (Mike) Taucher of Owensboro; brother, Nicholas Allan Benson of Louisville, Kentucky; a cousin, who was like a brother, Eric (Brittany) Tatum of Owensboro; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 am until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of charitable donations made payable to St. Benedicts Homeless Shelter, 1001 W 7th St, Owensboro, KY 42301 and or to Friends of Sinners, Inc., 320 Clay St, Owensboro, KY 42303. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
