Mary Kathleen “Kate” Ward Wedding, 94, of Philpot, Kentucky, died Monday, November 19, 2018, at Signature Health Care at Hillcrest. She was born on May 26, 1924, to the late Ira Ward and Mary Beatrice Peake Ward. Kate enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking. She loved to cook and socialize with others. She loved her children, grand “babies”, and great-grand “babies”. She was an avid weather watcher, and could tell you anytime of day what the weather was, and how you should dress. She enjoyed shopping and loved to joke around with others.
Along with her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Leo Wedding, an infant son, Henry Leo Wedding, Jr., and her brothers Martin, Tony, Harold, Wilsie and Haymen Ward.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory 2 children: Norma (Bob) Ward and John (Renee) Wedding; grandchildren: Brian (Arlene) Ward, Jason (Erin) Ward; Darren (Diane) Ward; Scott (Carrie) Wedding, and Sheila (Mike) Morris; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings Bob (Helen) Ward, Donnie (Paula) Ward), Betty Hamilton, Barbara Jones, Rita Ward, and sister-in-law Marie Ward.
The funeral mass for Kate will be 10:00 am Saturday, November 24, 2018, at St. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Saturday at St. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. Prayers will be said Friday at 4:30 pm at the funeral home.
