DRAKESBORO, KY., Virdie Marie Wells, 94, of Drakesboro passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at her home after a short illness. She was born in Muhlenberg County on January 11, 1928, the daughter of Jessie Mayes and Mossie Joines Mayes. She was a housewife and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Johnny Wells Jr., 4 daughters Louise Paige, Josephine Hope, Ruby Jean Wells, and Kathryn Juanita Wells, 4 brothers Henry Mayes, Jay Mayes, Georgie Mayes, and Frankie Mayes, and 1 sister Becky Colonial.
She is survived by three daughters Marie “Cotton” Wells of Drakesboro, Linda (Jerry) Boggess of Bremen, Krystal (Michael) Music of Drakesboro, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Barbara Stanley of Paducah and Magdalene Curtis of Gary, IN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022 and on Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY with Rev. Curtis McGhee officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
