Donald Ray Preston, 64, of Horse Branch, Kentucky went to his heavenly home on Friday, December 16, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born November 6, 1958 in Leitchfield, Kentucky to the Alice Ferguson Wells and the late Everett J. Preston. Don retired from P&L Railroad and attended Horse Branch General Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing music with the Golden City Boys Band and 3:16 Band. He wanted his legacy to live through his music, knowing it touched someone’s heart.
Aside from his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Reeder.
He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his wife of 38 years, Sherry Gwen Tarrance Preston of Horse Branch; mother, Alice Wells of Owensboro; two daughters, Tonya Beth (David) Joyce of Beaver Dam and Asha (Chris) Duncan of Beaver Dam; 3 grandchildren, Abram David Joyce, Mason Lee Duncan and Madelyn Gwen Duncan; one brother, Dennis Preston of Philpot; one nephew, Preston Reeder and 2 nieces, Jennifer (Ryan) Curtis and Angela (Mark) Ayers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Glendon Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Horse Branch General Baptist Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Don’s family from 3-7 PM Monday and 9 AM until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
