Roy “June” Martin, Jr. 89, of Island, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. Roy Martin, Jr. was born January 26, 1933 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to the late Roy and Mildred Slaughter Martin and was better known as “June” by both his family and friends. Roy was a farm laborer and a U.S. Navy Veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands.
Survivors include two nieces, Sue Dickinson of Greenville and Sharon Young of Danville; two great nephews, Joseph Calvert and Jonathan Calvert; a great great nephew, Joseph Wayne Calvert; and his caregiver / best friend, Joyce Casebier of Bremen.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Chad Rafferty officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Friends may visit with Roy’s family from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at Musters in Livermore.
