Joyce Beasley

- November 29, 2018

On Thursday, November 29, 2018, Joyce Beasley of Owensboro, was set free from the grip of Alzhiemer’s, as she entered the gates of Heaven.

Joyce found great joy during her life caring for her family and friends. She was always looking for ways to do things for others. She loved to cook or buy a meal to take to someone sick or shut-in. She would be the first one to offer to host a shower for someone getting married or expecting a baby. She would provide child care, not only for her own grandchildren, but for children of friends and neighbors that needed assistance. She was always available to offer encouragement, advice, help and praise.

A lot of her heart and time was dedicated to her church work. She served in numerous roles over the years including Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader. She was honored to serve at both the local and state level as leader in the Women’s Missionary Union and Acteens mission organizations. She especially enjoyed working in the church library, and being a part of the Senior Adult Choir, the Handbell Choir, and participating in the church’s Christmas and Easter productions.

In addition to her church work, she had been a 4-H leader, had volunteered in schools, and had served as president of area Homemaker clubs.

She enjoyed watching UK basketball, and attending whatever sport or activity her grandchildren were involved in. Her grandchildren were her world. She was their biggest fan. It was a rare occasion that “Mimi” was not in the stands cheering them on.

She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Clarence Beasley, Jr., in January of 2014, following a sudden, massive stroke.

She is survived by her daughters, Penney Roos and Joy (Todd) Anderson, both of Owensboro; her grandchildren, Katy Anderson of Nashville, TN, Jordan (Bailey) Roos, Connor Anderson, and Daniel Roos, all of Owensboro; her sister, Mary King and three nephews and their families, all of Owensboro; and several cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her team of devoted home health caregivers from Hospice who looked in on her before she was moved to long-term care, and to the staff at Signature HealthCARE at Hillcrest who gave her excellent care during her short time there.

Friends are invited to visit and reminisce with the family on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Walnut Memorial Church Library.
