James Phillip Hill

October 25, 1932 - December 5, 2018

James Phillip Hill, 86, of Owensboro died at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. James was born in Drakesboro, KY on October 25, 1932 to the late Richard Lee and Augusta May Hill. He was a U.S. Army veteran. James graduated from Western Kentucky University with a masters and rank I. He taught and coached at Bristow High School in Warren County, Drakesboro High School, Foust Middle School and retired from Owensboro Senior High. James was a substitute teacher, worked at Ben Hawes Golf Course for more than twenty years after retirement and was a Third Region Official.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Jean Fleming; a niece, Deborah Ewing and a nephew, Maurice Fleming.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Hill; two daughters, Denise Harris (Ricky) and Melody Hill; grandchildren, Melissa Beth Harris (Mike Smith) and Jessica Louise Porter (Jason); great-grandchildren, Riley Kate and Harris James Porter, Hallie and Gracie Howard, and Noah and Jonah Smith; sisters, Elizabeth Herstek (Ray) and Velma Cottrell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no service per James’ request. Private burial will be at a later date. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of Mr. Hill’s care.
