Jesse James Webb, 81 of Owensboro passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born May 12, 1937 in Winifrede, WV to the late Melvin and Nancy Stone Webb. Jesse was a wonderful father, husband, and friend. He was a Christian and was the kindest, most thoughtful, and selfless person always putting others before himself. Jesse loved playing video games, horseshoes, and golf; he was good at all of them. He was very proud of his son, Michael and he loved us all as much as we loved him. Jesse will be loved always and forever. He was a coal miner for 25 ½ years, worked at U.S. Steel, and served in the US Army as a paratrooper from 1956-1958.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Maynard “Monk” Hudson, Norwood Webb, and Clayton Webb.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jewell Webb of Owensboro; his son, Michael Webb (Valerie) of Owensboro; his sister, Ethel Purdue of Winifrede, WV; his 4 grandchildren; his 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The service will be 4PM Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Rex Whiteman will officiate. The visitation will be 1PM until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
