CENTRAL CITY – Billy Brown Markwell, 86, of Central City, died Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 8:30AM at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest in Owensboro. Mr. Markwell was born August 2, 1936, in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Co., and a member of Promise Seeker’s Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. Billy was a very kind, loving person who was dedicated to his church, his wife, and his family. Billy always put others before himself and treated everyone he encountered as if they were family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Kaye Markwell; his parents; and his grandchild, Mark Haliday, Jr.
He is survived by his sons, Chris (Amy) Markwell, Mark (Debbie) Haliday, and Brian Markwell; daughters, Michelle (Tracy) Brown, Debbie Tabb, Laurie, and Linda; and grandchild Josh Eaves.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Steve McElvain officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 9:00AM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
