Eula Mae Miller

February 28, 1926 - December 30, 2018

Eula Mae Miller, 92, of Philpot, made her way to heaven on Sunday, December 30, 2018. She was born on February 28, 1926 in Daviess County, and except for five years in Illinois in the 1950’s, always lived in Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Shirley B. Miller on June 11, 1987 and by her parents Gilbert and Florence Kohler Powell. She also lost a brother, Thurman Powell in 1994, a sister, Catherine Bremerman in 2007, and a sister, Leora Josephine Powell in 1924 in infancy.

Our mother was a 1944 graduate of Daviess County High School, and though she lived most of her adult life as a housewife and stay-at-home mom, she still held a number of jobs including that of a hairdresser. She and our father were charter members of Owensboro Christian Church, but afterward she was a long-time member of Hall Street Baptist Church. In her later years, she was a member of Dawson Baptist Church and loved the ladies of her Winsome Sunday School class. During her final years, she stayed at nursing homes in Henderson and Radcliff. We rejoice when we envision how happy she must be in her new home in heaven.

Mama was a committed Christian and lived her life accordingly. Eula Mae was a living example to her family and friends, loved Jesus, going to church, and singing and listening to hymns, and also playing hymns on the piano. Her other interests included traveling and reading, especially Christian literature. She was never happier than when she was with family and friends and we will forever miss her.

Eula Mae is survived by a daughter, Karen (Byron) Simmons of Radcliff, and two sons, Wayne (Brenda) Miller of Philpot and Michael Miller of Philpot. She is also survived by two sisters, Edith Wall of Owensboro and Jane Batson of Newburgh, Indiana, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Eula Mae will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 5, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday and after 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
