CENTRAL CITY – Bobby Joe Sallee, 88, of Central City died Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:43AM at his residence. Mr. Sallee was born September 9, 1934 in Muhlenberg County. He worked in Shovel Operations as a coal miner for the River Queen Peabody Coal Mine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his church on the river and spending time with his closest friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Cassy Day, Penola Gray, Claire Lee Frances, Irvin Sallee, Sherman Sallee, James Sallee, Truman Sallee, Donald Sallee, and Billy Sallee; parents, Harlan Floyd, and Fannie Pearl; and children, Billy Ray Sallee and Bobby Joe Sallee, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Josie Welborn, Jennie Carter, Jody (David) Shelton; grandchildren, Shea (Barry) Davis, Terri Jo Carter, Andrew Thomas Welborn, Melissa Renee’ Strode (Manuel Keith); great-grandchildren, Jake, Nolan, Sadie Rhea, Pressley Ja, Mallory, Masen; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 12:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Jerry Frances officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
