Carl Dwayne Higdon, 46, of Lewisport, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at his home following a battle with cancer. He was born in Owensboro to Carl V. and Mary Nadine Higdon.
Carl served in the U.S. Army for four years. He was a member of Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and served as the Fleet Maintenance Manager for GRITS Transportation System. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, odd-jobs and getting together with his dad and brother to work on cars.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James Paul and Catherine Elizabeth “Lizzy” Higdon; maternal grandparents, Aubry and Virginia “Jenny” Mayfield; and a special uncle, Norman Mayfield.
Carl is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Jennifer Higdon; children, Carl Tyler Higdon (Lacee) of Maceo, Jessica Leann Higdon of Owensboro and Katie Lynn Higdon of Lewisport; grandchildren, Aubrey A. Higdon, Abel A. Higdon-Evans, Sawyer V. Evans and P. Oliver Evans; his parents, Carl V. and Mary Nadine Higdon of Philpot; a sister, Cassie Wells of Owensboro; a brother, Wesley Higdon (Rachel Hamilton) of Philpot; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 11 at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery in Brown’s Valley.
