Joseph Michael Galloway

February 4, 1946 - January 22, 2019

Joseph Michael Galloway, 72, of Owensboro, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Jennifer Marie Galloway. Joe was the loving father of five children; daughters, Jennifer “Itsy” Wright (Chris), Amy Priar (Tim), Kerry Bailey (Chris), Nakia “Kitty” Jones (Nick); son, Thomas Galloway (Natalie). He had 12 grandchildren, Lydia Meredith (Michael), Alex Priar (Larissa), Ben Wright, Warren Wright, John Thomas Priar, Genarose Jones, Mallary Bailey, Carly Ceballos, Andrew Bailey, Lucas Bailey, Jay Bailey, Everett Jones and, one great-grandchild on the way. Also mourning the loss of their brother is Joe’s sister, Betty Galloway and three brothers; Pat Galloway (Kathy), Bobby Galloway, and Tony Galloway (Janice), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was born on February 4, 1946 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Henry and Helen Galloway. In his early years Joe helped his father repair cars at the family business, Henry’s Automotive. After graduating from Owensboro Catholic High School, he married his sweetheart, Jennifer Marie Hamilton, and was drafted by the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army, he worked at Vessels Alignment Service before opening his own business, Galloway’s Frame and Axel. In 1990 he went to work as a Maintenance Technician at DART Polymers, Inc. until his retirement in 2015. Known for his mechanical and technical skills, he took great pride in helping family, friends, and anyone in need repair home appliances, cars, and major manufacturing equipment. Joe could fix anything.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen Galloway; infant son, John Michael Galloway; brothers, Francis Galloway, Paul Galloway, Tommy Galloway, Jimmy Galloway, John Galloway; and sisters, Joyce Barnes, Sue Boyens, and Rosemary Hagan.

Visitation for Joseph M. Galloway will be 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Prayers will be 7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery.
