Shirley Woosley 87, of the Pack Community in McLean County, Kentucky passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Shirley May Thomas was born January 14, 1936, in Sebree, Kentucky to the late Walter Bill and Mary Frances Griffen Thomas and was married to Darrel Rex Woosley September 19, 1953. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that spent her 87 years creating a life that was filled with love, devotion, and service to her family and community.

In her early life, Shirley worked at the former McLean County General Hospital in Calhoun, where she served her community with compassion and care. After her tenure at the hospital, she transitioned into the role of a homemaker, dedicating her time and energy to nurturing her family and maintaining their beautiful family farm. Her farm was not just a piece of land; it was a sanctuary where she cultivated an atmosphere of warmth, love, and togetherness.

Shirley was not only an exceptional homemaker but also an excellent cook. Her kitchen was the heart of the family home, where she created countless delicious meals that brought joy to everyone who had the privilege of tasting them. It was also the place where she imparted her culinary skills and love for cooking to her children and grandchildren, creating a legacy that will be carried on for generations.

A woman of faith, Shirley was a member of the Pack Baptist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and decisions. She was always ready to lend a hand, share a prayer, or offer a comforting word.

Shirley, as she was known to everyone, was a woman of great strength, resilience, and kindness. She was married to her loving husband, Darrel Woosley, for 70 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Together, they raised two children, David Woosley (Patty) of Bremen and Donna Parks (David) of Owensboro. She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Rick Woosley (Amy), Jill Graham (Jeremy), Lauren Harrett (Zack), and Sabrina Andrus (Dwayne), and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her immediate family, Shirley is survived by her brother, Maurice Thomas (Gail) of Wisconsin. Her family will remember her as a pillar of strength, a beacon of love, and a source of endless inspiration. Her love and legacy will continue to live on through them.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Danny Greene officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Shirley’s family from 12:00 P.M. (noon) until 2:00 P.M. Sanday at Musters in Calhoun.
