Wilbur "Bill" C. Henry

April 19, 1944 - February 2, 2019

Wilbur “Bill” C. Henry, 74, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his home. He was born April 19, 1944 in Daviess County to the late Richard Allen Henry Sr. and Mary Emma Mattingly Henry. Bill served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He loved to work on vehicles and was retired from the City of Owensboro where he was employed as a mechanic for over 20 years. In addition to Bill being a foster parent to several children over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, watching westerns, with his favorite being John Wayne, and watching NASCAR, especially Bill Elliott. You could also find Bill just about every day for breakfast and lunch with his close group of friends eating at Hardees.

He was also preceded in death by his wife who he was together with for over 40 years, Myrtle Mae McCormick Henry; a grandson, Joseph Taylor; and two brothers, Richard Allen Henry Jr. and Steve Henry.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Mary Henry Knight; four stepdaughters Vickie (Lenwood) Taylor, Karen (Jim) Miller, Elizabeth (James Lee) Warren, and Robin Ratliff; a stepson, Wendell “Jr” (Peggy) Ratliff Jr.; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, David Henry; two sisters, Martha Lewis and Tammy Henry; and his beloved chihuahua, Daisy Mae.

The Funeral Service for Bill Henry will be Noon Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Ron Hampton officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday. Burial will be in Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church Cemetery in McLean County.
