Avalyn Elizabeth Owen

- February 4, 2019

Avalyn Elizabeth Owen had enough personality to fill an entire room. And her entrances were synonymous with her personality – flamboyantly grandiose. Typically, she would be crawling along, two building blocks in hand, ostentatiously smacking the wooden floors like a dysrhythmic clogger, and just to be sure she had your attention, boisterously blaring baby blather.

Her passions were not simply limited to her grand entrances however. She loved watching her big sisters play basketball and mimicking all their dance moves, harassing and “petting” the begrudgingly affable Mr. Kitty, chasing after Darwin, our more aloof Rhodesian Ridgeback, swinging as high as possible in her tree swing, getting buried in a pile of warm fresh-out-of-the-dryer clothes, bouncing endlessly with Mommy and Daddy on the exercise ball, visiting her grandparents, and knocking down all of her Daddy’s block buildings with a sly smirk.

We loved to read to her frequently, but most frequently the roles would quickly reverse, and she would begin reading to us, muttering her baby gibberish, rambling along pointing at the pictures, and turning the pages as she saw fit.
She also loved helping with all the house chores. Pulling out the pots and pans, making certain the magazines and newspapers ended up on the floor, unfolding all the neatly folded laundry, reorganizing all the draws she could access, pulling out all the diaper wipes from the container, and generally making sure things were just the way she wanted them.

But most of all, she loved snuggling up with her mommy, telling her about the day, while playing with her glow worm.

Avalyn Owen was born 11-27-17. Those left to cherish in her memory include her mother, Brittney Bruner; father, David Owen; sisters Kailyn Piraino and Alayna Piraino; Grandparents Bill and Pamela Sweat, Terry Bruner, and Paul and Nellie Owen; Great Grandmother Elizabeth Hamm; Great Grandmother Barbara Gaddie; God Mother Janet Ambrose; and numerous aunts, uncles, and dear relatives.
