Lois Turner Goforth 85, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at her home in Owensboro. Lois Mae Holder was born April 23, 1938 in Livermore, Kentucky to the late James Buchanan and Grace Ilene Brown Holder. Lois was married to the father of her children, Billy Tucker, was later married to Thurman H. Turner, until his death on March 27, 2015 and was married to James L. ‘Dago’ Goforth, until his death on January 2, 2021.

Lois was a beacon of warmth and affection in the lives of all who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family, fulfilling the role of a homemaker with grace and boundless love. She was the cherished matriarch whose guidance and support were the foundation of her family’s happiness and success. Lois was a woman of faith, a long-standing member of Livermore Missionary Baptist Church, where she found solace and strength in her community.

Her interests beyond her family and church were simple yet profoundly meaningful. Lois had a passion for reading, which allowed her to travel through time and space within the pages of her beloved books. She also had a unique talent for finding treasures at yard sales, a hobby that brought her immense joy and often turned into cherished gifts for her family and friends. However, the most precious moments for Lois were those spent surrounded by her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose achievements and milestones were her greatest pride.

In addition to her parents, the father of her children and two husbands, Lois was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Tucker; by a step daughter, Karen Turner; and by six sisters, Alta Holder, Wanda Gray, Myrl Lawrence, Faye Free, Betty Gross, and Joyce Spain Walker.

Lois is survived by a son, Donnie Tucker (Deb) of Fishers, Indiana; a daughter, Sandra Roach (Jeff) of Owensboro; a step son, Ricky Turner (Mel) of Owensboro; two step daughters, Darlene Jewell (Charlie) and Penny Turner both of Owensboro; 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; several step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Mansfield of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with Lois’ family from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.
