William Lynn "Bill" Heishman

February 6, 1947 - February 6, 2019

William Lynn “Bill” Heishman, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on his 72nd birthday, February 6, 2019 at Captain James A. Lovell Federal H.C.C. in North Chicago, Illinois. He was born February 6, 1947 in Frankfort, Germany to the late Master Sergeant Jesse Heishman, Jr. of Milltown, Indiana and Margaret Stroud Heishman of Centertown, Kentucky. He was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew Neil Heishman.

Bill grew up a military “brat” in Frankfort Germany and Fort Knox, Kentucky. He joined the U. S. Army and served as a guard in West Berlin, Germany at Spandau Prison. He was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696 where he spent most of his retirement from Whirlpool after 30 years of employment. Bill was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing poker, fishing, and visiting with his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Margaret Ann Heishman Wickline and her husband Matthew, grandchildren, William Miles and Grace Catherine Wickline, all of Lake Forest, Illinois, brothers, Michael Eugene Heishman and wife Linda and James Frederick Heishman, all of Owensboro, a nephew, John Michael Heishman, and a niece, Sarah Elizabeth McNeiley and husband Daniel.

The Funeral Service for William Lynn Heishman will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 16, at the Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Centertown Cemetery in Centertown, KY with full military honors. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Fellow VFW Post #696 members and friends are welcome to join us Friday, February 15, at 7:00 P.M. at the VFW Post to celebrate his memory.
