Kenneth Ray Hanks, Sr

(Poppy) Kenneth Ray (Bo) Hanks, Sr., 88, of Hawesville passed on to his Heavenly Home on November 30, 2023 at his home. Bo was born on April 15, 1935 in Stephensport, KY to the late Dewey and Alma Roberts Hanks. Bo was a retired River Boat Captain, working many years on the U S River System on a tow boat. He spent most of his years out on the water. He loved hunting, fishing and trying to fix and repair anything that was broke or wouldn’t run. He was very knowledgeable when it came to working on motors. He enjoyed spending a lot of his time at KY Lake fishing after he retired and he always looked forward to the George Wade Brown fishing tournament, a family tournament the Brown’s and Hank’s families put on.

Bo was preceded in death by his wife Delores Jean Gray Hanks, and four children Joseph Randal Hanks, Kathleen Rose Hanks Brown, Kenneth Ray Hanks, Jr and Kevin Robert “Hanky” Hanks and a great grandson Jamison Robert Hanks, a son in law Dale Ray Severs and a sister Anita “Tiny” Robbins.

Bo is survived by a daughter Karen Ranae Hanks Severs, a sister Hazel Lee Hanks Smith of Lawrenceburg, KY and a son in Law Tim (Lisa) Brown of Lanesville, IN; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm Monday December 4, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial following in Calvary Cemetery in Cloverport. Bo’s family will greet friends from 10:00 am until service time. Online condolences may be left for Bo’s family at www.gibsonandsonfh.com.
