Dianne Allen Murphy, 75, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born June 7, 1948 in Owensboro to the late Nolan C. Allen and Della “Midge” Blan Allen. Dianne graduated from Daviess County High School Class of 1966. She married her husband, Kenneth, on January 7, 1972 at Elizabeth Church in Curdsville. She worked at Westinghouse for 10 years, where she was a member of their bowling league. Dianne was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, where she took care of the landscaping and beautified the church. She also volunteered in many roles at the church including helping serve meals to all the members. Dianne was dedicated to her kids and volunteered at their schools and for the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed glazing and firing ceramics and was always in her garden and grew beautiful roses. But most of all, Dianne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Waltrip; and a brother, William Byrne.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Murphy; sons, Brian Murphy (Lee) and Greg Murphy (Courtney); daughter, Angie Murphy Rice (Kyle); nine grandchildren, Annabelle Murphy, Kaden Rice, Ava Rice, Nolan Murphy, Edie Murphy, Brennan Murphy, Bryce Murphy, Emery Rice, and Libby Lee Murphy; sister, Sue Ramsey; many in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.
