Jerry Dale Mayes, age 80, of Melbourne, FL left our world for Heaven Saturday, December 9, 2023. Jerry was born in Evansville, IN on August 7, 1943 to the late Wilber & Cesna Mayes. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church & treasured his Love & Laughter Sunday School Class which he taught for many years. Owensboro was his home till he moved to Melbourne, FL last December and was a member of First Baptist Church Indialantic. He worked at Green River Steel as a Chemist & later sold Medical Equipment for Physicians Sales & Services. Jerry loved his golf buddies & playing duplicate bridge for many years. He had a witty personality, was very generous & loved people.
Jerry was preceded in his death by his son, John Kevin Mayes.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane Stringer Mayes; son, Bryan Keith Mayes; brothers, Terrill (Rosemary), Ralph (Brenda), and Freddie (Kay); a sister, Beverly (Burley) Phelan; grandchildren Kevin Michael (Sarah), Matthew Tyler (Katherine), and Hannah Renee Mayes: daughter-in-law, Gina Renee Mayes; and three great-granddaughters.
Services will be held at noon on Friday, December 29, 2023 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sorgho. Visitation is from 10:00 until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
