Roy Allen Barnett

April 15, 1959 - February 21, 2019

Roy Allen Barnett, 59, of Maceo, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at his home. He fought his long hard battle with lung cancer for two years, and he won that battle and is now celebrating in heaven. Roy was born April 15, 1959 in Daviess County, to the late Marvin and Eva Jean Stinnett Barnett. He worked as a mechanic for Raben Tire, Shelby’s Wheel and Tire and Mile’s Farm Supply. Roy was a sports fan, watching his favorite driver in NASCAR, Ryan Newman, the Chicago Bulls, with Michael Jordan, and ordering and watching Mike Tyson PPV fights. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, raising cattle, and cooking for family dinners. The one thing Roy enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family, especially his grand babies, who he truly adored.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Day-Day Matthews.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Betty Barnett; his two sons, Tim (Dustie) Barnett and Tommy (Britney) Barnett; a daughter, Christie (Jared) Shultz; 10 grandkids, Chloe, Harley, Sadie, Weston, Felicia, Jeremy, Chelsea, Jonathan, Samuel and Melissa; a great grandson, Zevin; 4 sisters, Donna, Bonnie, Patty and Lynn; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Roy Barnett will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. till time of service. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
