Thelma Shelton Marksberry

Thelma Shelton Marksberry, 90, of Philpot, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at her home. She was born on September 2, 1928 in McLean County to the late Jacob and Louise Shelton. Thelma was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and a nursery worker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Fred Marksberry, on July 12, 2015; three sisters, Beverly Kelly, Dottie Theriault, and Linda Samperi.

Survivors include a son, Freddy Marksberry, Jr. of Bells Run; two daughters, Tonya Marksberry of Philpot, and Pam Morrison and her husband, Glenn, of Owensboro; four granddaughters, Amanda (Brian) Fischer, Abby (Chris) Flake, Avery (Nick) Whitesell, and Chelsea Marksberry; a grandson, Jacob Marksberry; six great-granddaughters, Madison Morrison, Caroline Flake, Sophie Flake, Meredith Fischer, Paislee Marksberry, and Kennedy Whitesell; a great-grandson, Jackson Whitesell; two brothers, William Shelton and Shirley Shelton; three sisters, Nita Travis, Helen Ruth Atherton, and Brenda Howard; a sister-in-law; Helen Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Thelma’s caregivers Rosie Stark, Barbara Rice, Julie Boyken, and Caryn Roach.

Services are 2:00p.m. on Monday, February 25,2019 at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Private burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Philpot. Visitation is from 10:00a.m until 2:00p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
