Curtis R. Jackson

December 12, 1934 - March 3, 2019

Curtis R. Jackson, 84, of Owensboro, passed away at his home on March 3, 2019 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Curtis was born at home in Roseville in Hancock County, the oldest of 8 children of the late Herb and Mamie Corley Jackson. A mechanic, he worked in the gas fields, for Empire Gas and Sure Gas, and retired from Aleris in 1998 after 26 years of employment. He enjoyed Cardinals baseball, UK basketball, woodworking, piddlin’, and NASCAR before they changed the rules. He had been a member of Pellville Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 50 years, Maggie Davis Jackson; his sons Ricky R. Jackson (Nina) of Maceo and DeWayne Jackson (Lori) of Owensboro; his grandchildren Trish Jackson, J.C. Jackson (Helen), and Lukas Jackson; his step-granddaughter Jahna Robertson (Chris); his great-grandchildren Dominic Jackson, Daymian Jackson, Devin Jackson, Paige Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Courtney Jackson, and Baylee Lewis; his step-great-grandchildren Lexie Lindsey, Taylor Dampier, J.J. Wright and Michael Wright; a step-great-great granddaughter Lindsey Dampier, with one on the way; his brothers Bobby G, Jackson (Peggy) of Owensboro and Charles W. Jackson (Betty), of Roseville; and his sisters Carol Wilkerson of Pellville and Sharon Hamilton (Bruce) of Masonville.

The funeral service for Mr. Jackson will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Daviess County Diabetes Coalition.
