Stephen Hays, 68, of Philpot, died, Friday, March 8, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 11, 1950 in Daviess County to the late William & Maudie Hays. Stephen was an Army Veteran, serving two terms in the Vietnam War. He was an extreme UK basketball fan, “C.A.T.S, Cats, Cats, Cats.” He was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Magen Thomas; siblings, Nancy Carol, Scott Hayes, Mary Alice Glasscock, June Donald Hays; and sister in law, Linda Rose Minton.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Edith Hays; Daughter, Kim (Charlie) Dant, grandchildren; Nathen (Kasey) Bivins, Kelsey (Mark) Cecil, Darrian (Kenny) Loiacano, Jarrod (Victoria) Trice; eleven great grandchildren, Jazlyn, Jacob, Braedin, Brenton, Lily, Phoenix, Maci, Tinsley, Harley, Eli, and Kylie; Heart Daughter, Deanna Gail (Mike) Stinnett; brother, Mike Hays (Alice Franey-Hays); sister, Sue (Louie) Meier, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation is from 3:00-7:00 Monday and after 9:00 on Tuesday at the funeral home.
