GREENVILLE – Doris Jewel Jarvis, aged 86, of Greenville, KY, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication. Ms. Jarvis was born April 20, 1937 in Muhlenberg County. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James W. Jarvis.

She married James, the love of her life, and together they built a beautiful life filled with joy, laughter, and an unwavering sense of togetherness. Doris was known for her kind heart, her unwavering faith, and her ability to make everyone around her feel loved and valued. In her younger years, she and James served as youth directors at Duvall’s Chapel where she has been a member for over 60 years. They also welcomed countless children into their home as foster parents. She spent her final days in long-term care at the Greenville location of Owensboro Medical Center. There she made many friends and loved the staff as if they were her own children.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her family. Survived by her brother, Hubert (Joyce) Jessup; her children, LaDonna (Scott) Peveler, Michael Jarvis, and Jeanette Langley, Doris’s love and guidance will live on through them. Her grandchildren, Derek (Beth) Peveler, Dustin (Carrie) Peveler, Jon Michael (Erin) Jarvis, and Jamie (Tommy) Hopper, will remember her as a guiding light and a source of endless support. Doris’s great-grandchildren, Caleb, Victoria, Tommy Jr., Jonathan, Lashae, Kaydie, Landon, Payton, Marlie, Becca, Will; and great-great-grandchildren Madden, Aubree, Hadley, and Joshua, brought her immense joy and pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A celebration of Doris’s life will be held at Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church in Greenville, KY, on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 1PM with Bro. Gary Embry officiating, Bro. Joe Chambers and Bro. Danny Miller assisting. Interment to follow at Nebo Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10AM -1PM at the church. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in remembering a remarkable woman whose influence and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
