James S. “Bud” Cook

James S. “Bud” Cook, 83, of Philpot, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born January 11, 1941, in Daviess County, to the late James C. and Agnes Onstott Cook. Bud graduated in the class of 1959 from Daviess County High School and went on to attend Western Kentucky University. He began a career as an electrician with the IBEW 1701 in 1966 and retired in April 2003.

Bud was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer for 50 years. He also assisted in cooking for the church picnics.

Bud spent many enjoyable trips traveling to Colorado with fellow hunters. Bud (WD4IYI) was an amateur radio operator and was often found in his radio room listening to other local and world-wide operators. He also participated in activities with the local Owensboro Amateur Radio Club.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebekah Louise Cook.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Nancy Elliott Cook; a son, James S. “Buddy” (Danna) Cook Jr.; grandchildren, Rebekah (Josh) Elder and Jessica Cook, great-granddaughter, Caroline Elder; a sister, Florence Bratcher; and several nephews and cousins.

The funeral service for Mr. Cook will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Brother Aaron Foe officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 until 6 p.m. and also on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund.
