LaVelton Kennedy

May 2, 1943 - March 20, 2019

LaVelton Kennedy, 75, of Owensboro, KY passed away Wednesday morning, March 20, 2019 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he diligently fought heart disease to the very end. He was born in Loogootee, IN on May 2, 1943 to the late Ivo and Edna Carraway Kennedy. LaVelton loved spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and watching T.V.-especially Louisville basketball. He graduated from Owensboro High School in 1963 and then played football at Western Kentucky University. He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College and worked at Texas Gas. He taught at Owensboro High School for a few years. He later retired from the Teamsters Union. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Kennedy; and his sister, Gina Berry.

He is survived by his daughter, Lydia Kennedy (Bryant Sadler); and step-daughter, Lexie (Adam) McDuffee; his grandchildren, Gunner and Gatlin Sadler, and Dylan, Alexa, Landon, and Lake McDuffee; two brothers, Jimmy and Dennis Kennedy; four sisters Betty Cornette, Barbara (Allen) Hoagland, Joy Keith, and Sherry (Doug) Howard; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend, Randy Embry.

Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
