Dorothy Hayden Nutt, age 86, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, died May 25, 2024 after a short illness. She was born April 12, 1938, in Daviess County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Loyd Russell and Dorothy Mae Allgood Hayden. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Lee Hayden and William Michael Hayden and her sister, Mackey Jo Hayden.

Survivors include her husband, Michael James Nutt, of Nicholasville; two sons, Stephen Gerald Ayres (Danielle) of Nicholasville, and Bradley Lloyd Ayres (Jimena), of Estero, Florida. Sisters: Sherry Hayden Pulliam of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Becky Hayden LeRoy (John), of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Four grandchildren: Dexter Ayres, Nicholasville; and Lauren, Madeline, and Katherine Ayres of Jupiter, Florida. Nephews: Scott, Todd, and Jeff Pulliam, Owensboro, Kentucky; and Robbie Hazelrigg, Tell City, Indiana. Nieces: Ginger Fleming, Hawesville, Kentucky; Susan Hazelrigg, Las Cruces, New Mexico; Lee Ann Chappell and Donna Bland of Lewisport, Kentucky; Renee Hayden, Marietta, Georgia; and Elizabeth Hudson, Umatilla, Florida. And, twenty-four great nieces and great nephews.

Dorothy retired in 2001 from International Paper Company in Memphis, Tennessee, after 11 years of service. She had previously retired from General Electric Company, Owensboro, Kentucky and Portland, Oregon, after 26 years of service.

She was a member of the Lewisport United Methodist Church, and her family and friends were her enjoyment in life. She loved traveling with her special friends Pat, Martha, and Mary Maude.

Services will be held on Friday, May 31 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Lewisport, Kentucky. Family visitation will be from 10:00am – 11:00am, public visitation from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Funeral service will begin at 1:00pm and immediately following will the gravesite service at the Lewisport Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Lewisport Methodist Church or Church/Charity of one’s choice.
