Billie Jean Peay West

March 3, 1933 - April 8, 2019

Billie Jean Peay West, 86, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2019. Billie was born in Muhlenberg County on March 30, 1933, to the Late Ellet and Martha McKinney Bowers. Billie retired from MPD, formerly GE, after 42 years, she was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church, Past President and Lifetime Member of VFW Post 696 Ladies Auxiliary, and a Kentucky Colonel. In her free time, she enjoyed watching UK basketball, bird feeding, and watching Peyton Manning play football. Most of all she loved her family, she was instrumental in raising not only her children but helping with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren until the last few years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles West; sisters, Lucille Arnold and Louise Cook; and brothers, Jake Bowers, Malachi “Mutt” Bowers, and James Bowers.

She is survived by her children JoAnne Johnson (Mark), John Peay (Theresa), and Jack Peay (Helen); step-daughters, Sharon Lafferty, Carilyn Stoneking (Ralph), and Marilyn Clark (Rick); 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be noon Friday, April 12, 2019, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 pm on Thursday and after 10 am on Friday. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
