
Teresa Gayle (Ramsey) Sailors, 75, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. She was born March 1, 1949 in Richmond, Kentucky to the late William Harry Ramsey and Juanita Wiseman Ramsey. Teresa attended Southern Nazarene University and received her B.S. Elementary Education in 1971 from the University of Missouri Columbia. She later received her Masters in Early Childhood Education in 1985 from the Arkansas State University, Jonesboro. Teresa married her husband, J.D. Sailors, on August 14, 1970. Teresa was an elementary school teacher in Forrest City, Arkansas, Caraway, Arkansas, Corpus Christi, Texas, Louisville, Kentucky, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Florissant, Missouri and was a librarian for four years at Shreveport Louisiana Public Library System. She was a member of Audubon Church of the Nazarene.
Teresa was always involved in church as a leader, teacher, choir director and organist. She took great pride in helping teenagers to memorize and learn Scripture through Nazarene Teen Bible Quizzing. She had a green thumb with houseplants and gardening. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, J.D. Sailors; two sons, Charles Sailors (Phuong) of Kansas City, Missouri and Benjamin Sailors (Jill) of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Isabella, Spencer, and Claire; brother, Phillip Ramsey (Becky) of Columbus, Ohio; and a sister, Doris Ramsey Betts (Steve) of Oklahoma City.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Audubon Church of the Nazarene, 15 Carter Road, Owensboro, KY.
