Martha “Juanita” Carter, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday July 17, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born May 14, 1942 in Daviess County to the late Chester H. and Louise Newman Kruger. Juanita was a member of Newman Baptist Church where she was the church pianist for many years. She was retired from the Owensboro Public School System after 21 years where she worked in the cafeteria at the Owensboro 5-6 Center. Juanita loved raising flowers and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also loved all holidays especially the Christmas season and decorating for them.
Juanita was also preceded in death by her husband, John L. Carter in 1989, a brother, Louis Kruger in 1996, and a granddaughter, Natalie Spinks.
Surviving are her children, Donna Basham (Butch) of Owensboro, Mitzi Finn of Illinois, Greg Carter (Sandy) of Owensboro, and Becky Roberts (Rick) of Maceo; five grandchildren, Brooke Jaycox (Dominick) of Illinois, Ashley Phillips (Mike) of Owensboro, Adam Reynolds (Allison) of Louisville, Madalyn Roberts of Maceo, and Brooklynn Williams (Riley) of Bowling Green; five great grandchildren, Laura Cate, Audrey, Ezra, Sybil, and Mack.
Funeral services will be Noon Monday, July 22, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
