
Jacqueline C. “Jackie” Howard, 92 years old, of Whitesville passed away Saturday, August 3rd at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice & Palliative Care. She was born near Magan Station, Kentucky, November 1, 1931, to Forrest and Ruth Hicks Chapman.
She was preceded in death by her husband John S., a son John Raymond, her father Forrest Chapman, mother Ruth Chapman Johnson, her stepfather Mitch Johnson, a grandson Donnie Howard and her companion of almost 25 years, Francis Forsythe. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1950. She and John were married September 30, 1950, at Saint Mary’s Rectory in Whitesville by father Nahstoll and moved to Whiting, Indiana. Missing home they returned to Kentucky in 1952. She worked at G.E. in Owensboro, between babies, for the next 18 years and was a member of St. Mary’s of the Woods Parish for 70 years.
Jackie enjoyed travel, having trekked to various destinations in North America, Europe and Asia and being with her children and the grands at every opportunity. She was an eternal optimist with an outgoing personality and a constant devotion to her family. Mom was our North Star, our counsellor and consoler, our undaunted, unwavering, advocate.
Survivors include her four sons Tony (Ella), Terry (Connie) Whitesville, Jeff Nashville, TN and Barry (Pam) Natchitoches, LA. Grandchildren Robin Boarman, Audrey (Kevin)Lindsey, Heath Howard, Brandon (DeAnna) and Jonathon (Chelsie)Howard. Great grandchildren Cole, Ragan and Trew Howard, Frederick Dickinson, Myka Lindsey (Jack)Sloan, Walker Lindsey, Tyler Warren, Vivian Howard, Ragan Howard and a great-great grandson Kingston Howard, born on her birthday November 1, 2023.

A Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, KY. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 with Prayers at 6:30 p.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville.
