Herbert "Glenn" Woodward

February 22, 1936 - April 12, 2019

Herbert “Glenn” Woodward, Jr., 83, of Owensboro passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Hermitage Nursing Home. Born in Daviess County on February 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Herbert Woodward, Sr. and Elizabeth Rudy Woodward Kerrick. Glenn was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the L&N Railroad system where he was a switch foreman.

He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and was a Kentucky Colonel. He most enjoyed cooking and hosting burgoo parties with his lifelong friends known as the “Dirty Dozen”. He cooked for the Owensboro BBQ Festival on the Fitts Pitts team. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and watching UK basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Coleman Woodward; a sister, Sr. Mary Herbert Woodward, AD; and brothers, Bro. Robert Woodward, CSC and Rudy (Helen) Woodward.

Surviving are his daughter, Kelly and his “favorite son-in-law”, Ronnie Stallings; grandchildren, Jason (Kira) Stallings, Lacey (Jason) Harville, and Nathan (Mariah) Stallings; nine great-grandchildren, Tyson, Kadince, Riley, Adilyn, Jackson, Hazel, Cooper, Ryder, and Oliver; a sister, Joyce (Gerald) Keller of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at the Hermitage, especially Krystal, for the excellent care he received.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation where evening prayers will be at 4 p.m. on Monday.
