Ann Sharlene Hagan Hatfield

Ann Sharlene Hagan Hatfield, 88, passed away on August 5, 2024. Ann Sharlene Hagan was born on May 31, 1936, in Whitesville, Kentucky, to the late Lucian and Mary Rose Thompson Hagan. She graduated in the class of 1954 from St. Mary of the Woods High School.

In addition to her parents, Sharlene is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Hatfield, in 1997; her brothers, Jerry Hagan and Tom Hagan; and her sisters, Emma Hagan and Marie Crum.

Some of Sharlene’s greatest joys were time spent with her family, and her “kids.” Dove and James, Grant and Emily, Hunter Ann, her brothers and sisters, their families, some dear cousins, and a precious great-grandchild that is on the way. She was a long-time member of Saint Stephen Cathedral, while health permitted, where she was very active in a variety of ministries.

Sharlene was known by non-blood relatives as Aunt Sharlene, Mamma Hatfield, and most of all Mammaw by several of her grandson’s friends. She was also the queen of broccoli of the broccoli casserole. Sharlene was also notoriously known for sending greeting cards to family and friends. She also proudly displayed cards that she had received.

Sharlene is survived by her children, Dove and James Haire, her grandchildren, Grant and Emily Haire, her great-granddaughter, Hunter Ann Haire, and soon-to-be great-grandchild; her siblings, Sue (John) Mudd, of Grayson Springs, and Mike Hagan, of Owensboro, KY; many loving nieces and nephews, and some close cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be at noon, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Saint Stephen Cathedral. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at church. A private family burial will take place at Saint Mary of The Woods Catholic Cemetery in Whitesville, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen’s Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Stephen Cathedral, 610 Locust Street, Owensboro, Ky. 42301. Envelopes will be available at Saint Stephen Cathedral on the day of service.
