Nicholas Dwayne Alvey, 45, went home to be with the Lord and his loved ones gone on
before him on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
Nick was born on March 16, 1979 in Owensboro, KY. He was employed as a Fitter at
Eastern Shipyard. Nick was a big fan of Metallica, Mustangs, Hennessy, Nike and his t-
shirts. He could often be found treasure hunting, eating pistachios, playing pool with his
friends, watching Press Your Luck and going to yard sales. Nick had a huge heart and
loved his family, friends, and especially his kids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Debbie Alvey; and cousin, Chris
Head.
Left to treasure Nick’s memory are his wife of 22 years, Jennifer Preston; daughters,
Briana Paxton (Matt) and Alexis Clary; son, Mason Preston (Breanna); grandson,
Lincoln Joe Preston; sister, Jennifer Alvey (Denny); brother-in-law, Michael Link (Kara);
aunts, Brenda Ijames (Earl), Judy Alvey, and Debbie Roberson of Owensboro, KY; aunt,
Becky Taylor of Montana; cousins, Misty Broughton of Montana, Amber Fallowfield of
Evansville, IN, and Billy Louden of Owensboro, KY; niece and nephews who meant the
world to him, Blake Alvey, Sydney Jewel and Brandon Alvey (Rachel) and his daughter,
Charleigh Alvey; parents-in-law, Tammi Link (Mike) and Bill Kaiser (Marge); best friends,
Mike Watson, Dustin Collett, Garrison Nickell, Vincent Clopton, Lee, Brandon, Todd,
Jason, Macho, Shane and Larry; the mother of his daughter, Briana, Tabitha Ralph;
Nancy Shelton, mother of the late Tomas Daniels; bonus son, Emery Mendheim; as well
as the whole Eastern Shipyard family.
A memorial service will be announced at a late date.
